Athens airport is conveniently situated just off the Attiki Odos motorway (A6), which is linked to:

The airport bus station is located outside the Arrivals hall, between Exits 4 and 5.

By Metro
Athens airport is accessible via Line 3 "Athens Airport - Dimotiko Theatro" (Blue Line).
Trains run every 30 minutes, seven days a week. The journey between Athens airport and Syntagma Square takes 38 minutes. The first train departs from Athens Airport at 06:30 and the last at 23:30.
Line 3 is connected with the other means of public transport, such as buses, trolleys and tram.

By Suburban Rail (Proastiakos)
The airport is connected via the Suburban Rail with Piraeus and the Central Railway Station of Athens «Larissa Station». Trains run every 60 minutes, seven days a week and the journey between the airport and Piraeus takes approximately 60 minutes.

By Taxi
There is a taxi rank directly in front of the Arrivals Hall.

Athens Airport, also known as Eleftherios Venizelos, is the busiest airport in Greece and the eighteenth busiest airport in Europe by passenger traffic. In 2023, it handled 28,174,150 passengers, a 24% increase from 2022.
It is used by over 60 airlines flying to more than 150 destinations in 50 countries.
The airport has two runways (with a length of 4 km and 3.8 km respectively) along with two operational terminals (Main and Satellite).

Inaugural flight of the new non-stop service between Shanghai and Athens (2 April 2024)
The inaugural flight from Shanghai to Athens arrived at Athens International Airport “Eleftherios Venizelos” on April 2, marking the inauguration of the new intercontinental route to Shanghai, which is the fourth intercontinental route operated by Juneyao Air.
The Boeing 787 Dreamliner operated flight HO1657 from Shanghai Pudong to Athens.
The flight took off from Shanghai Pudong International Airport at 01:55 am on April 2, carrying about 300 passengers, and arrived at Athens International Airport (ATH) at 08:30 am local time after a 12-hour flight.

Athens International Airport, the operator of the largest airport in Greece “Eleftherios Venizelos”, announces the admission to trading of its shares on the Main Market of the Regulated Securities Market of the Athens Stock Exchange.
Trading will commence at 10:30 AM EET under the symbol “AIA”. The initial public offering by the Hellenic Republic Asset Development Fund S.A. of 90,000,000 shares was priced at EUR 8.20 per share, implying a market capitalisation of EUR 2.46bn.
Athens International Airport Announces Start of Subscription Period of the Combined Offering of its shares by the Hellenic Republic Asset Development Fund S.A. (25 January 2024)
A prospectus has been approved for the Greek Public Offering by the Hellenic Capital Markets Commission and the price range for the Combined Offering has been set between EUR 7.00 and EUR 8.20 per share, implying a market capitalization of EUR 2.10 billion to EUR 2.46 billion.
The Combined Offering relates to a total of up to 90,000,000 shares, equivalent to 30% of Athens International Airport’s outstanding share capital, offered by the Hellenic Republic Asset Development Fund.
Full Scale Emergency Exercise 2023 (24 November 2023)
The Emergency Exercise 2023 "Incident on Airport involving aircraft: Aircraft Collision" was carried out by Athens International Airport, in accordance with the regulations of the European Aviation Safety Agency.
This year’s exercise has been conducted with the participation of two airlines (Aegean and Volotea) and 2 Ground Handling Agents (Goldair Handling and Skyserv).
